5 Morning Routine Tips

Nothing beats starting the day off by getting some wins! It is a way to tick off some items and continue to take them into the rest of the day…

So here are some great things I like to try and tick off in the morning before starting the day.

Meditate:

It just takes 5 minutes but doing some focused thinking in the morning really helps ground me and set my mind up for a great day. I’ve been following the plans from the app Balance, I highly recommend it, the guided meditations are so well planned to follow and you are allowed to drop from focus and come back.

There are some beginner plans to follow, which is how I used the app to begin, but not only that they have a host of singles that focus on specific requirements.

Stretching

After a long sleep, your muscles are full of lactic acid and are in need of some excitement. Therefore a good stretch is needed to loosen those aches and keep you supple. For this, I either listen to my body, or I like to use the app Sworkit; it offers some really good focused programs.

Planting my tree

If you’ve looked at my previous post, I mention about the amazing app TreeApp! You’ll know it allows you to plant a tree every day by watching an advert about a sustainable product and in return a tree is planted in the location you wish.

This is part of my morning routine so I can avoid missing any days… this becomes rather annoying…

Journalling

I absolutely stand behind journalling, it is something we all should be doing! There are some amazing tools online, and some physical books devoted to helping you journal.

Normally I use a journal app on my iPad, which you can write in twice a day. At the start, sharing 3 things you’re grateful for, 3 things you’re going to do today, and then what is called your daily affirmationsions. Then in the evening, writing some things you’ve accomplished today and comment on ways in which you would make the day better.

The beauty about journalling is that it doesn’t need to be life-changing thoughts! It can literally be focussing on an amazing conversation you might have had, or that you’re really grateful for having food to eat etc… Just enjoy it!

Language learning

This one may only affect a few people, but for me, it has become quite important. I am trying to learn more Swedish, as you know I am living here and all. Doing some Duolingo in the morning, or even on the bus to work really helps get my mind in a good state for working. Plus I become a little bit better each day!!

Now it might seem that I have a ton of time in the morning with doing all these things, but in reality, each of them is about 5-10 minutes. So if you’re willing to invest a bit of time in the morning with some of these I am sure you’ll see the benefits in a couple of weeks, and over time.
